Routine Nail Care
Routine care of corns, callus and nail conditions are undertaken by our foot health practitioners (FHP). An FHP is a trained healthcare professional who specialises in the routine care, maintenance, and overall wellbeing of the feet. They focus on preventing foot problems, maintaining comfort, and supporting mobility for people of all ages. FHP’s commonly treat conditions such as corns, calluses, thickened nails, fungal infections, ingrown toenails (non-surgical), cracked heels, and general nail care. They also provide advice on foot hygiene, footwear choices, and ongoing preventative care. Many clients include older adults, people with reduced mobility, and individuals who are unable to manage their own foot care.
While FHPs play an important role in maintaining foot health, they do not replace podiatrists, instead they work alongside our podiatrists to ensure patients receive the most appropriate level of care. Podiatrists are degree-qualified healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat complex medical conditions affecting the lower limb, including diabetic foot complications, biomechanical issue, wound care and surgical procedures
Foot health practitioners are trained to recognise when a condition falls outside their scope of practice. In such cases, they refer on to our Podiatry team. This collaborative approach ensures safe, effective and ethical care for every patient.
Maintaining healthy feet is essential for mobility, independence, and overall wellbeing. Foot Health Practitioners play a vital role in making that possible.
